Engender Equality offers a therapeutic service to any person affected by family or domestic violence in Tasmania.

Therapeutic services are :

  • Free and confidential
  • Unlimited (you can attend as many sessions as you need)
  • Short or long term
  • Face-to-face, by phone and/or online using Zoom
  • Suitable for people affected by family violence now or in the past
  • For all people regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, marital or socioeconomic status, cultural, religious or ethnic background

Our practitioners:

  • Are qualified, specialised and experienced
  • Are based in Hobart, Launceston and North West Tasmania
  • Can offer services at other venues if you are unable to come to Engender Equality, or use our phone or online services (for example, if you have mobility or financial issues)
  • Will use an interpreter if you need one
  • Can provide appointments outside normal business hours, if you ask them
  • Are in high demand but once you contact us, we aim to see you within three to four weeks
  • Are committed to protecting your privacy and offering secure and confidential services – to find out more, read our privacy policy

How to Access Therapeutic Services

To make an appointment, you can:

  • Call us on (03) 6278 9090 and if we are not available, leave a confidential message and we will return your call as soon as we can
  • Email us at admin@engenderequality.org.au

We operate during normal business hours. Our practitioners may be able to provide appointments outside normal business hours if you ask them. If you are experiencing family violence and need to talk to someone outside of business hours, call:

  • The Family Violence Counselling and Support Service on 1800 608 122 (open until midnight)
  • 1800 RESPECT (open all hours)
